Canvas is the design vocabulary of tools that disappear. The interface should be invisible so the user can focus on their content. Pure white background. Warm off-white for panels. Trustworthy blue for the things you can click. Everything else gets out of the way.

Warm gray borders feel like pencil lines on paper. The whole system reads as "smart notebook," not "software."
